Race choice only matters if you're an alpha.If your talking about what ships to fly and you are not locked. I'm writing what I know but I'm probably wrong in some places so you're all are welcome to correct me.Minmatar: speedy and signature tanks but occasionally should tanks for the bigger stuff. Hit and run tactics, signature tank.
Need weapon skills in missiles and projectile turrets.Amarr: Frigate and destroyers are kinda bad. Laser vased weapons. Need good support skills to make them shine but they perform well when properly skilled. Buffer armor tanks.
Suited to brawling because of their large tanks. Sniping is viable but kiting not so much since they are not fast. Amarr EWAR is capacitor disruption which is pretty good.Gallente: brawling style for the most part.
Mix of drones and hybrid turrets for damage. This race has ships bonuses for armor repping. Usual fits are blasters with armor reps. Can discuss out face melting amounts of dps. Drones their drone bonuses also make their ships very viable for pve.
Their EWAR of sensor damps is pretty good.Caldari: THE kiting race. Ships are fast and many are bonused for range. Their missile weapons system makes this race good for ratting as well. The longest range sniping ships are caldari. Also they have the best EWAR, ECM. Tank is shield based.
TL:DR Many MMORPGs feature World Bosses. That is, large bosses visible to all players in a region that can be attacked without any one person claiming all of the loot and all of the fun. These often involve unique mechanics or more varied cooperative and social gameplay (Which is why I'm bringing it up). Could this work in Eve Online? Pros and Cons? Does this look feasible or terrible in your mind's eye? Please discuss!EDIT: I failed to mention that this post was meant to be geared toward all tier players and ships, not just players who can afford big badass ships - that way any budget can experience a wide range of battles.
Thank you all who have replied already!!I feel that a dichotomy exists within Eve Online. On one hand, it's an extremely in-depth, detail oriented, number-crunching cornucopia of logistics, and those logistics are are not only connected to a massive economy, but to the battlefield as well.
This cultivates within players a love of investing time and effort into their ships and all of the various mining, exploration, and other activities available in Eve Online. So much so that many players run 2 instances of the game on 2 monitors with 2 pilots, often splitting business (Mining, production, finance, etc) and pleasure (blowing shit up).
Not to say that those two can't be reversed. For the record, I'm only rocking 1 monitor and 1 pilot.On the other hand, I recently found myself Googling 'Fun things to do in Eve Online,' which brought up many forum threads where other players asked the same question. Google's autofill suggestions supported this, on some level. Responses to these forum and blog posts often provide great suggestions, but I feel that those things always point back to grinding. Don't get me wrong - Eve can be very fun to grind in and I'm going to try several of the suggestions I came across and I'm excited to do so!PVP appears to be the ultimate rush for many. I hate to admit it, but I haven't experienced it yet, apart from being ganked a couple of times.
When I played years ago, I had no friends to play with, and being an introvert I had no desire to join a massive corp and a massive fleet without at least having a couple of buds by my side. Soloing PVE seemed abysmally. Ineffective in principle, but I could be wrong. Now no one likes the guy who says 'That movie sucked' before he saw the movie. In 2020 I do have friends and I am going to explore PVP, and I'm very excited about it!My biggest concern with PVP, and the reason for this post, is this: If I have a helluva good time in PVP, It's still going to net me.
Losses, most likely. At least, from what I've read. So many hours of grinding just to watch my ship turn to dust, unless I buy Plex, of course. It could take 5 hours of PVP, or 5 minutes. I want that exhilaration without having to blow up my stuff every time. I know, I know: 'Get good and stop being a baby about it. That's what you signed up for!'
So hear me out. When I go ratting, I see all of these assets in space that provide context and environment. That is, the enemies are usually near a Base, or a Gas Storage Container, some kind of Barracks, a Mining Installation, etc. Destroying these provides no bounties and no loot if they can even take damage.(I'm imagining here, get ready for some UNBALANCED gameplay mechanics)But imagine if there were bases that would scramble fleets and perpetually launch every 3 minutes - maybe they have signal emitters that call fleets in until destroyed. Perhaps Some of the gameplay mechanics that you'd only find in PVP could become available in PVE World Boss Encounters.
What if there is some kind of VIP target that tries to warp away, so it must be Tackled using warp disruptors? This one might not need world bosses, but maybe enemies could use wider varieties of fittings to buff and compliment each other in the ways that player fleets could. This could, in theory, combine the fun of PVP and having to coordinate with a fleet to accomplish.I picture an unreasonably big, badass enemy space station swarming with enemies, ripe for a massive fleet to attack. They could, of course, vary in size. Bosses for fleets with 2-4 players, 5-10 players, etc.Perhaps we could have separate PVP World Boss experiences as well - that is, two factions each have an NPC world boss and each team has to work to protect it while fighting the enemy players and trying to take down the enemy's Boss (or.

I'm just trying to help make the game better with fun ideas.Thanks!! All different. Sansha Incursions and Trig Invasions are your classic 'Raid World Boss' type thing with generally 3 tiers of sites.
I don't know a ton about Sansha stuff, but the trig stuff works like:.The lower end sites (like Emerging Conduits), solo-able in a Battleship or teams of Battlecruisers. Most people run Vindicators or Rattlesnakes.Mid tier sites (Minor Conduits) are solo-able by very high skill players in Marauders with extremely expensive fits, or are generally done by Nestor/Vindi/Leshak armor comps.High End Sites (Flashpoints) done by fleets of Faction battleships like Nestor/LeshakSotiyos are NPC structures you can bashin Null, done in Supers and Titans usually.FOBs ar NPC structures you can bash in HighSec/Lowsec and done in spider tanked battleships, like Dominixes, or solo in expensive faction battleships and Marauders.All found via The Agency. The sansha sites aren't played for the 'world boss' part of it though. Each focus is played for as long as it can be (about a week) before killing the mothership then a new focus spawns a day later.They're played basically for the smaller 'raids' HQ sites, the TPPH, NRF and TCRC sites which are ran with a mix of 40 battleships + logi cruisers and everybody gets isk and LP per site. It's about 100mil an hour doing these, up to like 180mil on the luckiest hours (based on which sites respawn). The mothership has relatively little reward compared to these, so these sites are done as much as they can instead.
It would appear that CCP agrees with your premise. That there should be more solo and cooperate/competitive pve content for players of all skill brackets. They've been doing a lot to include stuff like that for the last few years.Lower tier frigate Abyssals can be done by teams of 3 people in some of the cheapest ships in the game.
The latest pve event was geared towards frigs and destroyers. Trig invasion features sites that can be done by small teams of battlecruisers up to larger fleets of faction battleships. Lower class wormhole sites can be done in frigs, destroyers and cruisers.That said, it's also good that the highest reward activities aren't doable without significant investment of time, skill points and resources. Stuff like NPC sotiyos and NPC capitals require capitals and supercaps to do because they have potentially very expensive rewards.
